Prior Work Experience
My previous experience is in Automation Systems & Robotics. I spent almost 30 years in that field in various capacities. 15 of those were spent teaching others.
My experience includes:
- The Day Publishing Company, New London, CT
- The New York Times, Edison, NJ
- Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Paris, TX
- Paris Junior College, Paris, TX
Automation & Robotic systems are used in almost every industry. From newspapers to diapers. From creating shampoo bottles to automobiles, and soup. If you can think of something that’s made, most likely, there’s been automation included.
Automation Systems & Robotics
Here are some of the systems I’ve worked on:
PLC-2

A specific model of programmable logic controller (PLC) from Rockwell Automation (formerly Allen-Bradley)
PLC-3

The PLC 3 Series of programmable logic controllers produced by Allen-Bradley. Many machines, factories, and plants still use these devices.
PLC-5

PLC-5 processors are high-speed, single-slot processors, designed for larger sequential and regulatory control applications with specialized I/O requirements.
ControlLogix

Designed for large, complex applications. They have features needed to control large processes, and complete production lines including modular architectures, a range of IO options, and support for different industrial networks.
AutoMax

Distributed Control Systems (DCS). It features a processor capable of running ladder logic, BASIC, and control block programs, providing powerful control for various industrial applications
PanelView Plus HMI

An Operator Interface Terminal used for machine interfacing and making adjustments. Works most effectively with the PLC-5 and ControlLogix systems in a factory setting.
PowerFlex VFDs – Variable Speed Drives

high-performance motor control, advanced self-monitoring capabilities and real-time operational system data. Customers leverage this smart technology to help increase productivity, boost equipment uptime, improve energy, and maintenance savings.
Conveyor Systems

Conveyors are a crucial part of any production facility. They move parts and products throughout a manufacturing facility during specific steps in the production process. This can be on the manufacturing floor or within warehouse space.
GE Fanuc Robotics

These robots provide manufacturers worldwide with the productivity they need to improve performance and profitability. They can be used as part of the manufacturing process or in package handling situations.
GOSS FlexLiner Printing Presss

A versatile web offset press designed for various printing applications, including newspaper, commercial, and packaging. It’s known for its high production flexibility, automation, and integration capabilities.
GOSS ColorLiner Printing Press

A double-wide, two-platform, web offset press for printing newspapers. Modularilty can match any high-volume customer requirement.
Cognex Vision System

A technology solution enabling industrial machines to “see” using cameras and image processing software. These systems capture and analyze two-dimensional images to perform quality assurance tests on production projects in real-time.
Prior Experience Takeaways
The knowledge I have in these systems has been used for so long, they’ve become embedded in my long-term memory. My previous experiences have been a large part of my life. I could teach these systems tomorrow, though, due to the side effects from my brain surgery, I can no longer work on the physical machines.
At my core, I am a teacher. I taught subjects in the US Navy, at The New York Times, and spent 15 years teaching at Kimberly-Clark. I spent three years teaching students at Paris Junior College.
These experiences allow me to speak comfortably to any size group, which has helped both my personal and business life.
If you need help with presentations or even teaching the systems above, reach out, and we’ll see what we can work out. I generally charge half the cost the vendor charges as long as we’re using your equipment for the training.
Giving Thanks
My previous experience allowed me to raise my children, even during challenging times. It helped pay for college, cars, and a home. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned over those years.
Now, I’m grateful for new opportunities to share my gifts and am ready to help wherever I’m needed.
