Why Update Your Website

Have You Updated Your Website Lately?

Updating Websites

When’s the last time you did any updates to your website? Do you even have a website?

Important questions to answer.

Let’s dive in.

Why Update Your Website

Website built in 2004. Shows the difference between older websites and more modern sites.

Websites are never done. They need constant attention if you’re going to get noticed at all. Remember, I’ve said this before. Your website is the new front door to your church.

Think about that. If you’ve been used to people showing up at your church, how do you keep things there? I’m sure you make sure the gathering area or narthex is clean and appealing.

You don’t leave clutter around and if you display posters or have a TV with announcements, they get updated constantly.

Your website needs the same attention.

When’s the last time you updated events on your site? What about the home page? Does it still look the same as it did when you put it up there in 2004? Things have changed.

What’s changed?

Number one: Mobilization! If you don’t have a responsive website, people will most likely ignore you. Mobilization means that your site works on phones.is 70% of people now use their phone for information. If they want to find out about your church, They’ll call it up on their phone, look at photos, videos, etc. and determine if they’ll even bother coming to check it out in person.

If you’re pictures are running off the screen, or text for that matter, they’re moving on.

What’s Responsive?

It’s how the website adjusts to being used on a phone, tablet, or laptop/desktop.

Responsive websites adjust their features to fit the screen.

SEO Is Still A Thing

Some people feel that SEO is no longer important but it is.

SEO helps search engines determine if your website content is pertinent to a particular search. Without SEO, the search engine has to guess what the site includes. That takes a lot longer. If it takes longer, you’ll show up further down the list of sites to look at. The further down the list, the more you’ll be ignored.
